BARC is proud to be the prin­ci­ple spon­sor of the 30^th Annual For­est of Need­wood Road Race to be held on Sat­ur­day March 17^th, 2012. This event is put on to honor the mem­ory of Jen­nifer Shafer Odem. Jen­nifer is a Brunswick High School and West Point grad­u­ate. She gave her life in the ser­vice of our coun­try while on a mis­sion in South Amer­ica in 1999.

The race raises funds in her name to sup­port a stu­dent / ath­lete schol­ar­ship fund to be given each year to four Brunswick grad­u­ates who have taken part in track and cross coun­try while attend­ing Brunswick High and mov­ing onto college.

The event is one of the old­est road races in the state of Mary­land and bring run­ners from the region to the Brunswick area to take part in this Grand Prix event with sup­port from The Fred­er­ick Steeple­chasers Run­ning Club. The event is open to all age groups with t-shirts, prizes and awards being offered.
